Kanye West the famous rapper, recently turn Christian is set to release an IMAX-only film titled “Jesus is King,” which is an offshoot of the Sunday services the rapper has been heading this year.
On Monday afternoon,the IMAX film trailer got over 240,000 views and more than 13,000 likes as it was being uploaded to West’s official YouTube account on Saturday.
The film started with the book of Mark 1:15 with the caption “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel,”
The filming of the summer at the Roden Crater, which features a large artistic facility in Arizona’s Painted Desert was shown in the behind the scene footage. Part of the trailer also showed a scene where the choir sang a Gospel song inside one of the chambers at the artistic desert facility.
As stated on the film’s official website, “This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with new music from his forthcoming album ‘JESUS IS KING’ — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of The IMAX Experience®,”
West having began his Sunday Service worship gatherings this year announced that he was no longer planning to record secular music.
Preaching on the topic of spiritual warfare, an outdoor Sunday Service was organized by West in Salt Lake City, Utah, gathering thousands of attendees
In the songs of Kanye, he said “Spiritual warfare, there’s a war going on outside, no man is safe from,”. “It’s no longer a mystery, Jesus has already won the victory!”. As Kanye spoke to the crowds, he revealed that he was once a slave to multiple God’s as he named them “god of ego, god of money, god of pride, the god of fame.”
“I’m an artist, I’m a creative, I’m a chef and I can only cook for one single God. I can only serve God,” he added.
Revealing his ordeal, he said serving multiple gods drove him crazy as he compared it with the greatest chef in the world trying to make a seven-course meal and serve it at eight different houses.”
The conversion of West has raised a lot of brows as thet has being a skeptical rant about his conversion while some were positive.
Noah C. Of the Hot New Hip Hop website said that there is a tendency that Kanye newfound mission as a newfound Christian gets disturbed if he indulges with secular music.
Kanye’s understanding of religious music might be quite broad due to his claim that The Life of Pablo was a gospel album but all the same best wishes was sent to him on his mission.
James Gardin, a rapper who writes for the website Rapzilla, attended a West Sunday Service held in Detroit, Michigan. In his statement, he said he enjoyed Sunday Service being a Michigander and added how the service was filled with believers and non-believers.
“These people probably would have never stepped foot in a church but the Church came to their turf this time.” He added.
