The Willow Creek Deutschland leadership conference held last week in Karlsruhe, Germany, was interrupted when one of the Speakers which became ill was diagnosed to have contracted the COVID-19 virus.
At the time of the incidence, the senior pastor of Life Church in Edmond, Okla Craig Groeschel who was part of the speakers accompanied with Bobby Gruenewald were said to be in attendance.
Reports has it that the two pastors may have been exposed to the corona virus and have been quarantined in their homes by local health officials..
According to Religion Service Report, about 7,400 participants were registered for the conference .
After returning from the conference, Groeschel and Gruenewald were quarantined for 14 days and have not had any direct contact with church members or their families since their return.
However, none of them had any symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
Speaking to CBN News, Groeschel said he had remained healthy at home with Pastor Craig but in their way to Germany, they were made aware of the situation at the conference and they immediately contacted the health authorities and have followed every recommendation.
In his words, Groeschel said “Out of an abundance of caution, we have been isolated in our homes the entire time, even limited from interaction with our families. We have no symptoms, and someone is checking on us regularly. In the meantime, we’re making the most of this time to focus on ministry work and look forward to getting back to our normal routines.”
Although, Gruenewald said he and Groeschel has remained in good spirits despite their isolation and that they are making most of this time to focus on ministry work and doing some extra sit- ups and pushups.
Gruenewald is the founder of the YouVersion Bible App, which has been downloaded more than 400 million times.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus has taken a toll on a wider range of churches.
