Lakewood Church will host an unusual Easter services online that will feature Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Tyler Perry as the “Hope is Alive” Easter services will be streamed live from Good Friday.
Senior pastor of the Church, Joel Osteen told TMZ that things just fall into places while creating artist lineup for the service, “It all just came together. I don’t know that I did it too much, but it just fell into place,” he said.
Kanye West and Joel Osteen had a service together for the first in November last year, shortly after Kanye West announces his faith where he was at the Lakewood church to discuss about his radical transformation, changes in family and challenges in life due to his new faith in Christ.
The megachruch pastor, noted that Kanye west want to use this medium inspire and bring hope to people, “He talked about wanting to partner with us on Easter to bring hope and inspiration to people, especially when people are kind of down and afraid so this is a good time to lift people up,” Osteen said. “I’m not sure what exactly he’s going to do but he sent me a couple of pictures where it looks like they’re going to keep the social distancing. Kanye is one of a kind, he’ll figure out some way to do it.”
Pastor Osteen said Maria Carey wants to honour and express her support to the first responders, “She wanted to show some support and honor to the first responders. She wanted to share a song and put some video footage of first responders… and to do her part and bring hope and uplift the nation,” he said.
And for Tyle Perry, this won’t be his first time of speaking at Lakewood Church and also rendering support for the ministry, “People of Lakewood love him so I reached out to him and asked him to send something,” Osteen said. “He sent us a five-minute clip where he’s just encouraging everybody during this difficult time. He’s a very loving and generous man and has become a good friend of ours. He’s so gracious and supports the ministry, is generous with his time and with his finances,” he concluded.
