He stressed himself out because of his love for ministry and caring for the sick.
And on his death bed…
He asked for a pen and a book.
He prepared his Will and wrote a hymn along side.
In that hymn, he wrote….
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee…
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
And he wrote again and said;
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day…
Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away…
Change and decay in all around I see…
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
He left that hymn as his last words to his generation and hundreds of years and years later, men are still encountering God through a song born out of the scar of a man.
No one knew him when he was alive until he had a scar!
His generation was too busy to hear him till he wrote down his scars.
We don’t know if he had a good voice and we don’t care!
Can I tell you? The easiest way to make your Church choir director to notice you and start giving you mic every Sunday is to go for a voice training and score songs and learn the various technicalities in music but you will only be heard in that Church.
A generation can not hear a man because he has a good voice, only your Church can hear you like that.
What guarantees that a generation can hear a man is not a good voice or vocal prowess.
Your Church singers may be more gifted in voice than Don Moen but what differentiates men is their scar and encounter.
Your scar is your badge in the spirit and if you don’t have a badge, you’re not really usable.
You can’t speak to a generation whose infirmity you know nothing about. You will insult them.
Those pains and those tears are a currency in the spirit.
My dear, forget the issue of the guy that broke your heart, it’s okay to cry but make sure your convert the tears to possibilities in the spirit.
I know you wake up every night and cry because no one agrees to help you.
Everyone is promising you and failing and life has not been fair, forget that issue and let us pray.
In the midst of that, God will make out an eternal Excellency and the joy of many generations out of you.
It was because Jacob was left alone that he became Israel.
He was a person before but when everyone left him and he cried, even his brother chased him to kill him that God made out a nation out of him and called him Israel.
My dear, Jacob and Israel are not the same people.
Jacob had no encounter but Israel was an encounter!
Jacob was a person, Israel was a nation.
Just because he sustained the pain of an Angel when the day was dim like this.
My dear, forget the issues that you’re talking about now and look upon what benefit it can be to a generation if you can be patient and maintain your confession.
But no matter what is happening, please, keep praying.
One day, God will prove to you that He has not died and that it was all a process to take you from the prison to the palace.
He said I should tell you to ‘Be still and know that He is God’
Remember, it’s okay to cry!
Yes, it’s painful but convert that pain to eternal gain.
That sorrow to glory.
Let us pray!
