DEALING WITH DISTRACTIONS!!!

– Bimbo Animashaun Teaching

The devil is “SMARTER” than some ministers in terms of knowing the brevity of time that is left for everyone.
In the Book of Revelation, we read this episode:

REVELATION 12:12
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, BECAUSE HE KNOWETH THAT HE HATH BUT A SHORT TIME.

Everything that the devil does is motivated by his fear of the time that is left because God Almighty is winding up activities on earth to bring the Church age into consummation.

Yet he deceives ministers that we still have much time left. One of the greatest deceptions you can ever fall for in ministry is to think that time is on your side, hence giving yourself to what is not important.
The Apostle wrote:

ROMANS 13:11-12
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
A minister must therefore be driven by a sense of urgency because time is running out.

One major attack you will need to confront head-on in ministry is DISTRACTION.
Time is not on your side dear friend. You must be wholly committed to your divine assignment and seek daily help of the Lord to finish your course on the earth.

It is not everything that you get involved in. It is not every discussion that you participate in. It is not everyone that you develop intimate relationship with.

You can’t say you want to listen to all ministers. You can’t even read all the books that have been written in the Body of Christ since inception.

And likewise you can’t watch all the videos of all ministers from every corner of the earth.

You see, sometimes in ministry, GOOD THINGS CAN DISTRACT YOU IF YOU’RE NOT DISCIPLINED.

Imagine you sit before your television set to watch Christian programmes for 24 hours everyday and that is your normal schedule.
With time, you’ll end up in confusion. You will be distracted. Moderation is key in everything that we do.

One day, a friend of mine introduced me to a senior minister at a wedding function and asked me to get his contact and connect.
Respectfully I told him, “There’s no need for it. Everything ends at this wedding ceremony”.

I don’t get myself involved in controversy or call out fathers in the Faith, so I knew that relationship would never work because I disagreed with the man of God on that level.

Truth is that in life, NOTHING BECOMES DYNAMIC UNTIL IT BECOMES SPECIFIC.
You must set your priorities right in the context of your calling and set your face like a flint.

Sadly, some ministers are already distracted. They have left their original calling and have started analyzing other people’s callings.
If all you do in a whole year is to start pointing out the faults in other ministers to and ministries, Brother you’re distracted.

Is that your message? Why can’t you focus on your message and the people of God under your watch including every other person that drinks from you or that’s connected to you?

It is both futile, silly and petty for a young minister to think that by social media activism and criticism, he can change the fathers into his own mode.

Trying to do that will waste a significant portion of your time and life in ministry.
As much as I honour the fathers of Faith, I don’t just follow blindly. The Word of God remains my sure Anchor by God’s Grace.

But I don’t try to change anyone. That’s wanton folly and sheer ignorance. I only teach the truth of God’s Word as witnessed to by God’s holy apostles and prophets and other things will be taken care of.

You remember when the wave of TITHES OR NO TITHES came. Many young ministers spoke against it.

They called the fathers different names but it has not changed anything.
Somebody has been paying TITHES for over forty years (which is not UNSCRIPTURAL) and you suddenly came out of the blues with your “new revelation” for everyone to stop paying tithes? What logic is in that? And you allowed that to distract you.

Those fathers are still paying tithes till date. Their members are still paying tithes and I’m glad to let you know that I PAY TITHES TOO – no regrets and no apologies!
It’s a distraction to start blowing the things that don’t determine our eternal salvation out of proportion.

I don’t analyze anybody’s personal instructions from the Lord. It’s between them and the Lord.
If a minister says God said their ministry should build a University, what’s my headache about that?

If they got a private jet for foreign missions, what’s my grouse about that?
If they’re to build 100000 or 200000 capacity auditorium, what’s my jeremiad about that?
All of these are not against the Bible if they’re Kingdom-driven. To now sit down to begin to preemt those ministers mean I’m not busy with my work.

That’s a big DISTRACTION!!! If a minister in Nigeria says he has a leading to go and meet Kenneth Copeland in far away America for prayers, what’s my business with that?
I wasn’t the one that God spoke to. In ministry, we face our work. If God has told you that you will reach one hundred million souls for Him, so be it.

You received that instruction; I didn’t receive it, so what’s my business analyzing it when my own workload is MUCH for me?
Somebody once asked Bishop David Oyedepo, “Is So-and-so a true and genuine man of God?”. Papa responded, “I have never called anyone into ministry before”. Gbam!!!

Friend, AVOID DISTRACTION IN MINISTRY THROUGH FOCUS – be single-minded. Remember, if your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light – Matt.6:22.
You don’t have all the time in the world to reply all your critics. I think I learnt that lesson in a very hard way, especially on social media.

When I started teaching on social media platforms, I used to throw light on my write-ups for the critics, but later I discovered that they weren’t really looking for Scriptural clarification but for a fight, so I unfriended all of them.
I would put up a teaching and someone would arrogantly and disrespectfully make a comment.

So I would shed light on what I wrote based on Scriptures and ministry courtesy but the person would still keep attacking.
What did I do? I unfriended such people. And of course I didn’t stop there; I went a little further.

The people that have been hibernating in my space looking for an opportunity to join the critics, I unfriended them too.
You may ask, “How did I know such people?”. I mean someone outrightly abused me and you liked that insult, and you claimed to be my friend on Facebook, NO NO NO, I know better!

Can you imagine you took time like one hour or more to put up a clarification on a post and someone just rubbished it by saying something like, “And so what”?
No, such people are time wasters. You’ve got to serve them right!

You see, IF YOU’RE NOT PRINCIPLED, YOU WILL BE RIDICULED.

Anyone who doesn’t respect your wisdom is not worthy of your companionship. You must DEAL BRUTALLY WITH ANYTHING that is aimed at distracting you in ministry.
God didn’t send anybody to make CRITICISM their ministry assignment. And He didn’t send anyone to SHAKE TABLES either. No, He sent us to preach and teach the Word in the power of the Spirit!

You tackle all the frontline ministers and many others and say they’re all wrong, then who is left? You?

That’s a big DISTRACTION. With time, people will not take you serious again. And even when you want to preach the Word, they will believe that you have come with your stuffs again.

Dear minister,
SAY NO TO DISTRACTION!
FOCUS ON YOUR ASSIGNMENT!!!
RUN YOUR RACE AND WISH OTHERS WELL!!!
Stay guided by the Word and by the Spirit. Remember, if you’re not GUIDED, you will be GROUNDED.
Trust this is a blessing Sirs and Mas?
Shalom!!!
